Check an email before you send

Read an email's label, and use Confirm them now on the export sheet to check the unchecked ones. It costs nothing.

How-toChecked 2026-10-10

You will know which emails are safe to write to. Checking never contacts the business and never uses your exports.

Read the label first

Every email on a revealed record carries a label. You see it beside the address on Businesses, Directors, lists and the record's Contact card.

Label What to do
Verified The mail server accepted this exact address. Safe to write to.
Catch-all server The server accepts everything, so nothing can be proven. Your call. A short first email is the lowest risk.
No answer The server never replied. It does not say the address is wrong. Try Enrich now later.
Will not deliver The server refused it. Do not send.
Not checked yet Not checked. It can be checked from the export sheet.

To find only addresses already checked, set Email status to Verified in the Filters panel. See Every filter on Businesses and Directors.

Check the unchecked ones

  1. Open the export sheet for your list. See Export a list to CSV.
  2. Under the allowance numbers find the note "Where the emails came from."
  3. Click Confirm them now. It appears when some emails are unchecked.
  4. The note says "We will look for each of these N addresses on the business's own website, then ask its mail server whether the address exists. Nothing is sent to the business and no exports are used." Click Check them.
  5. A bar shows "Waiting in the queue", then "Checking", then "Done", with "N of M".

You can download while it runs: "You can download now; the check carries on." The labels on the records update when it finishes.

One business

Open its record and press Enrich now to look again at its website, the register and each address. See Enrich one record.

What it does not do

The file keeps every address, with no label column. Verified says a message should arrive, not that it reaches the person you want. Re-checking a catch-all cannot give a better answer.

If something goes wrong

"The check did not start. Try again." has a Try again button. "Every email in this export has already been checked." means there is nothing left. See Email verification labels and Enrich now problems, by message.
