Test two versions of an email (A/B variants)

Add up to three variants of a step, and what Adapt does with them.

How-toChecked 2026-10-10

A variant is another version of one step, with its own subject and body. You will have up to three versions of the step, shared out between your leads.

Steps

  1. Open the campaign, then Sequences, and click the step.
  2. Click A/B next to the subject, or + Variant if there is already more than one.
  3. Choose Variant A, Variant B and so on at the top of the editor. Write each.
  4. Remove this variant deletes the one you are on.
  5. Save, run the spam check and approve. Every variant is checked.

What happens when it sends

Variants are shared out at random between your leads.

What you cannot do yet

  • Adapt does not pick a winner. The option Pick the best A/B variant is listed under More options as Not available yet.
  • Analytics do not split replies by variant or by step. Compare by reading the Unibox.

Test one thing at a time, such as the subject, and send enough emails before deciding. A handful of replies proves nothing.
