What you can find in the UK book

What the UK book is, the two pages that search it, and what you see before and after you reveal a record.

GuideChecked 2026-10-10

The UK book is the collection of UK businesses and the people who run them that you search in Adapt Leads. You can search it on two pages, Businesses and Directors, both under The UK book in the left rail.

For the plain-words idea of the book, read The UK book in plain words. This page is about what you can do with it.

What you can find

  • A business by name, website or keyword, such as "Marsh and Keel Accountants" (a sample business) or "accountants".
  • Businesses by sector and place, for example accountants in Sheffield.
  • Businesses by what you can reach them with: a verified email, a phone number, a website, a named director.
  • Businesses by kind: independent, multi-site, head office, part of a chain, newly incorporated, registered away from where they trade.
  • The named people at those businesses, on the Directors page.

Searching is free. Opening a record is free. You only use something when you reveal contact details or export a file. See Credits and exports: what costs what.

The two pages

Page What each row is Where to go
Businesses One business or one site Find businesses
Directors One named person, shown with their company Find directors

Both pages share the same Filters panel, the same search box and the same way of choosing columns, saving a search and ticking rows.

The Businesses page on a first visit, with the Filters panel on the left and a search box asking Who are you looking for
The first visit to Businesses. 1 Filters. 2 Search box. 3 Starting points. 4 Ask AI.

What you see before you reveal

Every row shows what exists: the name, sector, town, the director's name where we have one, the website, and whether an email or phone number is on file. It does not show the email address, the phone number or the full address. Those appear when you reveal the record. What is shown before and after you reveal lists exactly what is shown at each stage.
