Why a field on a record is empty
The honest reasons a phone, email or director is missing, and what you can do about each.
A field is empty because Adapt holds nothing for it, because the business does not have one, or because you have not revealed the record yet. Adapt never fills a gap with a guess.
The reasons
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Shows on reveal, or "Shows once revealed" | Adapt holds it. Contact details stay hidden until you reveal the record. | Reveal the record. |
| No email on file yet | None found so far. | Press Enrich now. |
| Not on file | Looked for, none held. | Check later. |
| Not confirmed yet | A value may exist but is not checked. | Enrich, or check it yourself. |
| Nothing held | No evidence at all. | Treat as empty. |
| At ceiling | The business has no such thing, for example a sole trader has no director. | Nothing to do. |
Why Adapt does not guess
A made-up email costs you a bounce and your sender reputation. An empty field costs nothing. So Adapt leaves it empty and says so.
Newly set up businesses
A company only a few months old publishes little beyond the register. The record says so.
