Correct a record: what you can and cannot change

You cannot edit a field on a record, but you can ask for a re-check, report a problem, and keep your own notes.

You cannot type over a field on a record. A record is shared, and a value only changes when independent places agree. You can still act on a wrong or missing field.

If a field is missing or looks out of date

Click Enrich now. It looks again and changes a value only where the evidence is there. See Use Enrich now on a record.

If a field is wrong

  1. On the record, click the three dots at the top right.
  2. Choose Report a problem with this record.
  3. Your email program opens with a message to Adapt Leads support. The subject carries the business name and record number. Say which field is wrong and what it should be.

Adapt reviews it. There is no promise of a time, and the record changes only if the evidence supports it.

If you only want to remember something

Use Notes and Tasks on the record. They are yours and stay in your browser. They do not change the shared record. See Signals, Activity, Notes and Tasks on a record.

If someone asks to be removed

A person who asks to be removed from the book makes a data request. That is handled by Adapt, not on the record page. See Data requests: access, erasure and objection. To stop contacting a person yourself, put their address or domain on your own suppression list. See Suppression and do-not-contact on lists and searches.

What you cannot do

  • Change a name, phone, email, address or director.
  • Delete a record.
  • Merge two records. Where two records look like one business, Adapt Leads' own team settles it.

Keeping the old value

When a value does change, the old one is kept. Click a line in How we know to see the trail.
