Data requests: access, erasure and objection
How someone asks to see, correct or remove their details, and what you and Adapt each do.
There are two kinds of request: about details in the UK book, and about details you hold yourself. They are handled differently.
About details in the book
Anyone can ask Adapt to remove or suppress their details. No account is needed and it is free.
| Kind | What the person asks | What Adapt does |
|---|---|---|
| Access | A copy of what Adapt holds about them. | Finds the records and replies. |
| Erasure | Removal. | Suppresses the details everywhere and keeps a minimal record so they are not added back. |
| Objection | Stop processing under legitimate interests. | Suppresses them, as for erasure. |
| Rectification | Correct something wrong. | Corrects it. |
They email hello@adaptleads.co.uk with the subject "Data removal request", or use the contact form and choose "Data removal". Adapt may ask for a little detail to find the right record and guard against fraud.
The deadline
Adapt promises within 30 days, which is tighter than the one calendar month in UK GDPR. The clock starts when the request arrives, not when it is logged. Erasure can be refused in part where a legal duty or a legal claim applies, and a reason is recorded when that happens.
About details you hold
If someone contacts you, you are the controller for what you hold in your CRM, lists and campaigns. Adapt does not run those requests for you. Add them to your suppression list the same day. See Opt-outs and the suppression list.
What you should do
If a person asks you to take them out of the book, send them to Adapt at the address above.
