Opt-outs and the suppression list
How to stop contacting someone, and what Adapt does when someone asks to be removed.
There are two lists: yours, and Adapt's. Both exist so that a person who says no is not contacted again.
Your list
Settings, then Suppression list, holds addresses and domains you never want to contact, up to 1,000 entries. Matching rows are labelled in search and lists.
Exports do not apply it yet
The app says so on the page. Check an export against your own list before you send.
Adapt's list
When someone asks Adapt to remove their details, Adapt suppresses them across the book and keeps a minimal note, stored as a hash rather than the plain value. That note stops the same details being added back from a later source. It is applied wherever data leaves Adapt: the app, exports and the connector.
What you should do
- Add anyone who opts out of your messages to your list the same day.
- Keep your own record: opt-outs reach you, not Adapt.
- Point people who want their details gone from the book to the Remove my data page.
