What is in an export file

The columns in the CSV, how multiple emails and phones appear, and the safety measures in the file.

ReferenceChecked 2026-10-10

An export is a plain CSV file you can open in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. The first row names the columns.

The columns

category Business The sector
trading_postcode Business Its trading postcode
full_address Business Its full address
phone Contact The main number
other_phones Contact Every other number we hold, separated by a semicolon

Only the groups you chose appear, in that order, with the last three always at the end.

One row for each business

A business with several emails or numbers is still one row. The extras are in the other_emails and other_phones columns.

Order

The rows come newest reveal first, or in the order of the list you chose.

What the file does not hold

Safety measures

  • A value that starts with =, +, - or @ has a quote put in front of it, so a spreadsheet cannot run it as a formula.
  • export_id and exported_by trace a copy of the file to its source. They cannot be switched off.

File name

adaptleads-exp_ followed by the date and time, ending .csv.
