Rate limits, credits and allowances
The ceilings on connector calls and rows, what uses a credit or an export, and what to do when you hit one.
Search and viewing never use your export allowance, but the connector has fair-use ceilings on speed and volume, and some actions cost a credit or an export. Limits are counted per account, not per key or per address.
Connector ceilings
| Limit | Value | Resets |
|---|---|---|
| Calls per minute, all tools | 60 | Next minute |
| Searches per minute | 20 | Next minute |
| Calls per day | 2,000 | Midnight UTC |
| Rows per day | 5 times your monthly export allowance, never less than 1,000 | Midnight UTC |
| Rows per month | 20 times your monthly export allowance, never less than 5,000 | The 1st |
| Page size | 100 at most. A larger request is cut down, not refused | |
| Offset | 2,000 at most. A page past it is moved back, not refused | |
| Call history kept | 90 days |
my_account returns your plan and what you have used today, so a script can pace itself before a big job. The app shows the same counts in the key window as "Used today".
A search reserves its page size in rows before it runs and gives back the difference when fewer come back. Twenty parallel searches therefore cannot all pass a nearly-full limit.
When you hit a limit
The tool returns a result, not an HTTP error:
{
"error": "rate_limited",
"detail": "Rate limit: more than 60 AdaptLeads calls in a minute. Wait a moment before trying again, and avoid retrying failed calls immediately.",
"limit_scope": "calls_per_minute",
"action": "wait_then_retry_once",
"retry_after_seconds": 23,
"retry_at": "2026-10-10T09:15:00+00:00",
"limit": 60,
"used": 61
}
Branch on action, not on the sentence.
action |
Means | Do |
|---|---|---|
wait_then_retry_once |
A per-minute ceiling | Sleep retry_after_seconds, retry that call once |
stop_and_tell_operator |
A daily or monthly ceiling | Stop. Waiting will not help until the reset |
limit_scope is one of calls_per_minute, searches_per_minute, calls_per_day, and the row scopes for the day and month. If a call goes over the row limit after its rows were already produced, you get the rows in result with a warning beside them.
What costs something
| Action | Cost |
|---|---|
| Search, view a record, list tools | Free. Counts toward call and row ceilings only |
| Reveal a business's contact details | One credit for a new reveal. Revealing one you already have is free |
| Export a list to a file | Uses the monthly export allowance for new contacts only. Re-exporting a contact you already took this month is free |
| Enrich a record | No credit is taken. 50 a day per person, one per record every 30 minutes |
| Ask Adapt question | 200 a day per person |
| Skill run | A daily number of runs by plan |
| Voice | 200 speak and 200 transcribe a day per person |
New accounts start with 25 credits and a free trial export allowance of 50. Plans, prices and allowances are in Plans, prices and limits.
Through the connector, reveal and export are never run by the connector. The tools reveal_lead and export_list prepare a card, and a person approves it in the app, which is when the credit or allowance is used.
The app's own routes
The routes under /api/market that the app uses have no general per-minute limit of their own. A few have a daily number, listed on the page for each area in How the app's API is organised. Do not take the absence of a limit as permission: those routes are private and can change.
