Run a skill

List the skills and run one with a sign-in token, read the reply, and understand the daily run limit.

You will end with a skill's reply and any approval cards it made. Skills run through the app's routes with a sign-in token. The MCP connector does not run skills.

Before you start

You need a sign-in token from POST /market/auth/login. See How the app's API is organised.

Steps

  1. List the skills:

  2. Run one:

    skill is area/name. input is up to 4,000 characters and may not be empty. page.route is optional and tells the skill which page you are on. No other field is accepted.

  3. Read the reply:

    Sample values. cards and actions list anything the skill prepared. A person approves them in the app. See How prepared changes reach you for approval. stopped says why a run ended early, for example on a cap.

Limits

Runs a day By plan: 8 on the free trial, then 30, 60, 120 and 250 from Solo up to Scale. Resets at midnight UK time
A month's AI allowance Also set by plan. It is not shown as money. Everything else in Adapt keeps working once it is used
Cost of one run Capped by the skill and by the plan. Not billed to you
Request body 20,000 bytes, then 413

If something goes wrong

Status Meaning
404 Not Found The AI layer is switched off, or the route does not exist. Both look the same on purpose
404 No skill called that. The skill value is wrong
400 The body is not JSON, or input is empty
422 The body has a field it should not, or lacks skill
429 A daily or monthly cap. The message says which and when it resets, for example "You have used today's 30 AI runs on the Solo plan. They reset at midnight."
503 The AI helper is out of capacity or busy. Try again shortly
500 That skill is not available just now
